So first things first: What is a tonic? A tonic is defined as a liquid drug that is taken to improve health, vitality, energy, and to fight fatigue. It could be full of vitamins and nutrients, it could have fruit juices with essential vitamins in it, or it could have a few specific vitamins with caffeine or other mild stimulants.
 
A tonic could be the answer to your fatigue and vitamin deficiency problems. This article will discuss some of the possible benefits that tonics may provide for you, as well as why a tonic might be a better solution then traditional vitamin supplements.

Some of the benefits of tonics might be the idea that specific tonics known as immunotonics are known to actually restore the balance of a system. So, for example, if you took a tonic that would help to increase white blood cells, the tonic would actually only increase the white blood cell count if your body needed the increase, and would likewise decrease the white blood cell count if you had too many white blood cells. This means that a tonic is not linear in its reaction to your body, but works with the body and gauges the needs of each individual and acts accordingly.

The strange thing about tonics is that they sound a bit medieval. In the medical field, it is not often we hear the word balance. In other words, if there is a decrease in something in our body, we take an increase of that something in order to get enough. But the word balance is not often used. The idea behind a tonic is that in some instances it will balance your system and give you what you need without giving you an excess of the vitamins or nutrients you are ingesting in tonic form.

So what is the Point?

The bottom line is that a tonic will not over-stimulate the body the way other types of formulas might. Tonics are bidirectional as it were, and are able to increase what is lacking or decrease what you have too much of. This is the crucial difference between tonics and other supplements. This is the main reason a tonic might be more beneficial then other supplements. The bottom line is that only you will be able to decide if a tonic is a better choice for you then multivitamin supplements available in pill form. Of course not all tonics are made equally so be careful when purchasing any tonic and always consult your doctor or physician first.
